Food Services Technician I

Status:

Reports to:               

Food Services Supervisor

 

 

 

Position Summary:  This position performs routine kitchen duties.

 

Level of Autonomy: Maximum supervision

 

Essential Functions

Duties included, but are not limited to:

Performance Domain

1.

Assist in meal preparation for residential clients following established menu and any special diet requirement.

Assist in meal preparation for employee meal program.

3.

Assist in preparation for Center catering requirements.

4.

Transport meals from kitchen to other locations as necessary.

5.

Serve residential clients’ meals, assuring that special diet needs and/or requests are met.

6.

Maintain necessary paperwork and records for kitchen operation, including logs, inventory and count sheets.

7.

Ensures freshness of product by maintaining and rotating stock on a daily basis.

Maintain strict adherence to hygienic standards as established by regulatory agencies, Center standards and operation procedures.

Maintain cleanliness of all areas of kitchen, pantry, freezer, refrigerator and storage facilities.

Maintain strict adherence to OSHA, health department and Center safety standards and operational procedures.

Education and Experience

  • HS/GED preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience in food preparation.

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must have the ability to follow and understand oral and written instruction.

  • Physical Requirements: Tasks may involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort and may involve some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching as well as lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects (20-50 pounds) and may occasionally involve heavier objects and/or materials (up to 100 pounds). Tasks may involve repetitive hand/arm motions for long periods of time.
  • Sensory Requirements:  Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors.  Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds.  Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate odors/aromas.  Some tasks require visual perception and discrimination.
  • Environmental Factors:  Tasks may be performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes; machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, animals/wildlife, and toxic/poisonous agents.
